UNIVERSITY
OF MEMPHIS, BRISTER LIBRARY RENOVATION
MEMPHIS,
TENNESSEE
This
project consists of more than 180,000 square feet of renovated space in
four adjacent buildings, which formerly served as the University's main
library. The program called for the largest of the buildings, a
twelve-story tower, to become the new "Front Door" to the
campus.
During
programming analysis the decision was made to make this group of buildings
the "focal point" of the entire campus. All University
student services, scattered across the campus, were relocated within the
four existing library buildings, most effectively using the available
space.
The
exterior site work around the library is an inviting series of walks,
lighting, and landscaping. The renovation to the tower façade
emphasizes the building’s significance when arriving on campus. The
project was completed in the summer of 2002.
