THE MALLORY-NEELY MUSEUM RESTORATION

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE

The Mallory-Neely Museum is one of Memphis' finest Victorian landmarks.  Its rich interiors, including furniture, original wool carpets, decorative wall finishes and murals survived several generations but required extensive restoration and conservation.  Williamson Pounders Architects prepared documents for a phased approach to the restoration including new mechanical systems for humidity control, restoration of deteriorated decorative plaster and murals, extensive structural repairs, and restoration of the exterior envelope.  Windows were fitted with ultra violet protection, slate roofs repaired, and decorative metal trim removed and repaired as part of the improvement scheme.
